We will look at situational awareness and how to protect yourself from a violent encounter by developing an awareness of your surroundings which could assist you in avoiding potential dangers.
So why should you make situational awareness important? In the world that we live in today if you are not situationally aware of what is going on around you then you could walk right into a situation that could be just a minor nuisance or a hazardous and life altering event that you could have avoided all together!
How many times have you ended a drive from one place to another without remembering anything that may or may not of happened during that drive time because you’ve done it so many times that you could do it in your sleep and its become so monotonous and routine that you “check out” while whatever thoughts are going on in your head take over. We’ve all done it and we are all still here to laugh and talk about it but what about the people that did the very same thing and ended up in a life altering situation that if they had just been paying attention to their surroundings, might have been avoided.
Even those who are well educated in situational awareness can become lazy in their daily activities; especially when doing tasks that are repetitive and routine.
