Mass Shooter Threat Training

There is no single profile that defines the mass shooter. Some could be categorized as psychotic, such as the Virginia Tech shooter. Others are motivated or inspired by ISIS or other terrorist organizations. Most are seeking fame.

While no common profile exists, common indicators do exist if you know the signs. In addition, most shooters have left a trail of physical or electronic evidence that was missed by friends or family. In 80 percent of the mass shootings since Columbine, the shooters told someone in advance about his or her plans, yet he or she wasn’t taken seriously.

Picking the potential mass shooter out of a crowded field of students, employees or parishioners won’t be as simple as looking at what the individual is wearing or what music he or she is listening to or other overt signs.

We will look at potential warning signs & risk factors that can help bring the level of awareness to a higher level for a House of Worship or Ministry. We will also discuss the 3 steps to potentially avoid a mass shooting incident; prevention, preparation and practice.

“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right within the eyes of everyone. If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear finds, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay.’ Says the Lord. On the contrary: ‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,’ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:17-21 NIV

What is classified as an emergency? An emergency is any situation, actual or imminent, that endangers the safety and lives of others or the security of the properties. Planning is essential for successfully minimizing any adverse effects of an emergency or disaster on an organization and its operations.

Emergencies and disasters can take on many forms, including an unexpected, violent attack on an individual or group, terrorism, sabotage, vandalism, physical perils, such as fire, smoke, or natural disasters, and work or volunteer accidents. It is an arduous process to augment the ability to protect the people of your organization from emergency situations but with proper planning and training of established Standing Operating Procedures (SOP) guidelines set forth in this document you will meet the needs of those that you have been entrusted to care for both spiritually and physically.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is an operating set of rules and regulations that govern how an organization is expected to function. Too often, organizations will function on the fly with no real rules or standards on how to direct others in an emergency. The SOP’s are specifically designed for the organization to meet their specific situational and spiritual needs.

We work with Houses of Worship to help them develop Standard Operating Procedures for a variety of emergency situations to meet the needs of the ministry specifically. We start with a needs assessment meeting and then develop a written estimate of the training and educational plans for your ministry.

We also provide mass shooter training for security teams and ministry heads as well as security team defensive and tactical range training. Call 513-608-9752 for additonial details.
